The Addict’s Family & Friends is a community action group with the purpose of empowering family members and friends who strive for the well-being of an addicted person. We work to educate and equip each advocate with the knowledge and tools necessary to care for the addicted person, to care for oneself, and to strive for change on a local level. Developed as a partnership between the Mansfield/Richland County Public Library and Family Life Counseling & Psychiatric Services, both organizations are hopeful that this gathering will inform community members to discuss different aspects of the local addiction epidemic and will empower individuals to seek help for individuals they know who are struggling with an addiction, or on the verge of developing a deeper issue. According to PEW Research in 2017, 46% of all U.S. adults have a family member or friend who is currently struggling or who has struggled with addiction in the past. Each month we will focus on a particular subject, host a community storyteller, and include an informative discussion Now, in December, we will be wrapping up the year with another free, open to the public, group of individuals to discuss their concerns and conflicts surrounding the holiday season. Open to all.
